OPEN FARM DAY 2006

Sunday, July 23, 2006
10 am - 2 pm
Peaked Mountain
Farm
16 Ellery's Lane,
Dedham, Maine 04429
Peaked Mountain
Farm, which is proud to be a Maine Farm for the Future, was
open to the public and their well behaved and leashed canine friends as part of Maine's 17th Annual Open Farm Day promoted
by the Maine
Department of Agriculture
Get Real, Get Maine program.
Peaked Mountain
Farm received a USDA Rural Development
Value-Added Producer Grant in
August 2005 to develop a value-added product business marketing plan
and hire a third party to conduct a study on Bite O’ Blue ™ Wild
Blueberry Dog Treat’s feasibility in the New England and New York
Metropolitan area markets. Positive results from the study have given us
inspiration and valuable data to promote
Bite O’ Blue™. That's
why Peaked Mountain Farm celebrated
Open Farm Day by "going to the
dogs" and introduced
Peaked
Mountain Farm's second children’s story,
“Preshus, The Border Collie Who Loved Wild Blueberries.”

Highlights of the day were the presentation of a photograph of
Miss
Beazley and Barney (President George W. Bush's Scottish Terriers) with
their paw printed best wishes from the White House, as well as the
presence of Michael W. Aube, Maine's State Director, USDA Rural
Development and "Rural Rover" the Rural Development doggy mascot.
